Abstract :
The characteristics of Cuk power converters in discontinuous-capacitor-voltage mode operation are studied. A Cuk power converter in this mode of operation is an inherent power-factor corrector and features soft turn-off switching. Simulation and experimental results are reported to verify the theoretical analysis. In addition, the advantages and disadvantages of power factor correction circuits using Cuk power converters in discontinuous-inductor-current mode operation and Cuk power converters in discontinuous-capacitor-voltage mode operation are discussed
