Abstract :
This paper considers the interconnections between the new European 2×25 kV-50 Hz high speed/high capacity (HS/HC) railway lines and the existing railways in various countries. The paper is focused on the interconnection between the two different supply systems employed in the Italian railway lines: 25 kV ac and 3 kV dc. The interconnection point was simulated by modeling all appliances in the border region and considering both the ac and dc sides. The goal of this analysis is the evaluation of the interferences between the two systems and of the effectiveness of the measures adopted to mitigate their effects.
