Abstract :
For original paper see ibid., vol.4, no.1, p.23 (1988). The commenter states that the author of the original article has underestimated the degree to which this technique has been developed for geothermal measurements. He cites a major project sponsored by the Electric Power Research Institute, which resulted in the development of a microprocessor-controlled portable instrument for transient needle thermal property measurement. He asserts that in the transmission cable industry, the transient needle method of thermal property measurement is far better known and developed than the article would indicate.<>
