Abstract :
This study presents a single- and three-phase power conversion topology based on series voltage action (SVA) to be employed in either dc-ac (inverter) or ac-dc (rectifier) power conversion systems. Each topology will be called as an SVA, that is, single- and three-phase SVA converter. The SVA converter is a configuration with specific advantages, such as (i) ac voltage higher than dc voltage with a single dc source, (ii) harmonic distortion improvements at ac converter side and (iii) reduced stress in each power switch. The complete analysis presented in this study includes the converter model, its operation, the modulation strategy, dc-link capacitor voltage and current. Also, a comparison with conventional converters has been carried out. Simulated and experimental results corroborate the theoretical study.
