Abstract :
The optical 3R regenerator using electroabsorption modulators was evaluated at 10 Gbit/s in terms of the all-optical network application. Its reset of impairments induced by the fiber transmission was confirmed by carrying out the multiple recirculating loop experiment. The experimental result shows that the transmission distance could be extended by almost 1.5 times compared to the case when it was not used, inserting the optical regenerator between the two recirculating loops.
