Abstract
The physics of superconductors is beautiful, intricate and full of mysteries and surprises. In the basic theory, quantum mechanics is essential, and even then the theory is incapable of accurate quantitative predictions. In this article, we shall deal only with electric-power applications, and leave aside both the atomic theory and electronics applications, such as Josephson junctions.
