Abstract :
In this paper, a novel input network for the cascode LNA is proposed combining with the conventional resistive feedback structure. The two input inductors inside and outside of the feedback loop are set respectively. Input matching and NF of the LNA can be optimized separately by regulating the two input inductors without significant influence to each other. The proposed cascode LNA is designed and simulated in the IBM 0.13 μm CMOS technology. A low and flat NF (<;2.0 dB) is achieved in a wide frequency range (400 MHz-3.3 GHz). A gain of greater than 10 dB with a 16.5 dB peak is obtained. The input matching is better than -10 dB. The total power consumption is only 13 mW. The results indicated that the proposed input-network effectively alleviated the tradeoff between NF and bandwidth without extra power consumption.
