Abstract
The paper proposes a novel push-pull forward converter (PPFC) in which a passive resonant network is introduced in the secondary winding. The converter can effectively overcome the drawbacks of the conventional PPFC, such as the high voltage stress over rectifying diodes and high voltage overshoots of switches. Furthermore, efficiency of the converter can be improved. Operating principles and features of the converter are analyzed in detail, design principle of the resonant capacitor is given. Finally, a 1 kW prototype is built to verify the effectiveness of the converter. The experimental results show that the novel PPFC can significantly improve the efficiency and the reliability of the system.
