Abstract :
A novel depressed-core-index photonic bandgap fibre having a cladding made of alternate high and low index layers is presented. Single-mode propagation has been experimentally observed and successfully compared with theory. This new kind of fibre exhibits zero chromatic dispersion shifted towards wavelengths as short as 1 μm
