Abstract :
The paper provides expressions for the accuracy of an interferometer when noise is present in the input signals. Performance is defined in terms of the signal-to-noise ratio and the time-bandwidth product. Results are provided for cases of practical interest where the signal-to-noise ratio is poor and the time-bandwidth product is small, For a digitally implemented system the effects of signal windowing and overlapped data frames are also included
