Abstract :
The authors have successfully fabricated a bent ridge-waveguide laser cavity on an InGaAs/AlGaAs GRINSCH laser structure using a 2D photonic crystal to reduce the radiation loss. A clear dependence of CW laser performance and near field behaviour on the period of the photonic crystal is demonstrated
