Abstract :
The authors report the use of tapered linearly chirped gratings to reduce dispersion-induced intensity noise in subcarrier systems. The results reveal that the enhancement of the relative intensity noise due to fibre chromatic dispersion can be significantly reduced by using an optimised tapered linearly chirped grating as an optical dispersion equaliser
