Where have all the students gone?

Enrolments in computer science courses have plunged dramatically in the past few years, and the signs are that this is a problem for Western economies at large, rather than simply the UK. With dependency on IT now running so high, and the industry itself expanding year-on-year, social commentators are entitled to ask: what´s going on - and how did we get to this position?
