Abstract :
The nature of the information provided by the vectorcardiograph (VCG) is described, and the use of Fourier descriptors in VCG classification is discussed. The Fourier transform relation of the VCG loop, cardiac axis determination from Fourier descriptors, and PVC screening using Fourier descriptors are considered. To demonstrate the usefulness of the features discussed as a feature set for the classification process, two different data sets from the MIT/BIH database are serially analysed. The use of Fourier descriptors in 2-D template matching is also discussed.<>
