Abstract :
The fraction of calls that are blocked due to the unavailability of channels is a significant quality of service measure for mobile communications. A scheme is presented that gives, under heavy channel occupancy conditions, priority to handoff calls over new calls, by accepting the last calls with a variable probability. Performance analysis results show that this scheme significantly reduces the handoff blocking probability compared to classical schemes
