Abstract :
This historical corner paper is intended to commemorate the work of Sommerfeld on the radiation of a dipole over an imperfectly conducting half space, published in 1909. This problem remains among the classic problems that can be used for validation of integral-equation codes. The solution of electromagnetic propagation generated by a dipole over an imperfect half space is, as all diffraction problems, something that might appear not very difficult when equations are written, but extremely tough when these equations need to be solved.
