Abstract :
Most of us have been trained as electrical engineers, focusing on technical skills. At some point in our careers virtually all of us are asked to manage something. Among the trickiest management tasks is managing people. This is not something we are trained to do and often it is not something we are prepared to do. Some engineers have a natural ability to manage people, most do not. In this column I´ll review a range of management styles, different techniques for managing people, and some philosophies to getting the most out of the individuals and teams you manage.
