Abstract :
Partial discharge (PD) signals, measured by electrical sensors, are attenuated and distorted in the output. The calibration factor, calculated in calibration methods, is only valid for signals similar to the calibration signal and even in this case whenever only the magnitude of PD signal is going to be processed. As the shape of the PD signal does not remain constant and usually differs from the calibration signal, its essential features such as rise time, peak value and fall time may be distorted. The proposed scheme in this study, inverse transfer function compensation algorithm (ITFCA), compensates for the distortions as a result of transferring of the original signal via electrical sensors; in other words, it can be used for the reconstruction of original PD signal from either capacitive or inductive sensor outputs. The results have shown high performance and generalisation of the proposed algorithm.
