Abstract :
Hardware systems must have sufficient robustness to cope with failures resulting from increasing variability and reliability concerns. This requirement not only applies to high-end systems but is now also a necessity for consumer electronics. Verification, test, and fault tolerance technologies all play crucial roles in designing robust, reliable systems. This special issue of IEEE Design & Test presents six features that explore these issues.
