  • Abstract
The academic problem described in this paper concerns an electromagnetic structure used to prevent the penetration of externally produced magnetic fields in a given region of space. The region to be protected consists of a channel of square geometry situated in the air-filled space that separates the pole pieces of a magnetized M-19 steel structure. The external fields are created by an electric current of 10 kA. The proposed shieldings for time-varying fields employ Copper plates in both, closed and semi-open configurations. To prevent the penetration of static fields, the proposed configuration employs a closed path of highly permeable alloys. The final configuration combines conductive media and highly permeable alloys, and protects the region against static and time-varying fields.
