Abstract :
Measurements of important spatial attributes, such as length, angle, perimeter and area of a Region of Interest (ROI) in an image can be an important feature in many scientific and engineering application. For some images, these measurement process is a straight forward process, while for others, this can be quite challenging, especially when the ROI is not a regularly shaped area. In many cases, apart from measuring the ROI, the users also requires to pre-process, archive the images and annotate them systematically for future use. In this study, we introduce a system called the QIMS (Quick Image Measurement System) which can be used to simplify the processes of pre-processing, measuring, annotating and archiving images systematically. QIMS framework was designed to be enable user specific add-ins modules be developed an integrated into it via COM(Component Object Model). The effectiveness of QIMS was shown via successful applications of QIMS by several research group in assisting the process of image measurement and management and it is currently being constantly upgraded to enable more advanced features to be included.
