Abstract :
It is shown that the discrete Hartley transform can be calculated using the Fermat number transform. The FNT and its inverse are implemented by a newly designed VLSI chip based upon a newly published design. It is shown that the number of multiplications required is reduced at the expense of an increase in the number of more easily executed shift and add operations
