Abstract :
Considers criteria of use in formulating functionals for optimisation of polarisation-dependent backscatter from radar targets. By employing the total backscattered power as a parameter, it is shown that optimisation of signal/clutter may be developed via partial knowledge of the average coherency matrices of targets and clutter
