Abstract :
Called the ¿X-Y Matrix,¿ this keyboard sells for 4 cents per switch position in quantities of 100 000. Prices are less for higher volumes. Originally developed for this manufacturer´s calculators, the product is now offered for noncalculator applications such as credit-card verifiers, telephone data-handling equipment, electronic games, and other consumer products with digital control.
