Abstract
A linear array of microstrip patches coupled electromagnetically through sections of transmission line embedded within the substrate is described and analyzed. Such an array has the advantages of a simple feed mechanism, since only the first and last patches need to be fed or terminated with a load. A design procedure is presented whereby the coupling transmission line sections may be chosen in order to excite a specific set of patch currents, producing a desired radiation pattern
