Abstract :
A joint meeting of the three founder societies and the American Society of Civil Engineers was held in the auditorium of the Engineers Building, 33 West 39th Street, New York, March 24, 1909, for the purpose of awarding the John Fritz Medal to Mr. Charles T. Porter, Honorary Member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. The honor was conferred on Mr. Porter for meritorious service in the advancement of steam engineering and improvements in engine construction, and the medal was presented by Mr. Edmund G. Spilsbury, chairman of the John Fritz Medal Board of Award. Four addresses were made:
