Abstract :
The joint meeting of the four national engineering societies announced in the March PROCEEDINGS was held in the Engineers Building, New York, March 24, and was attended by 625 people, mostly engineers. In the absence of President Bates of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Past President James Douglas of the American Institute of Mining Engineers officiated as chairman. The paper presented by Lewis B. Stillwell Mem. A.I.E.E. on “Electricity and the Conservation of Energy” is printed in Section II of this issue. The four papers read are now being printed in a single pamphlet under the supervision of Charles Warren Hunt, Secretary of the American Society of Civil Engineers. The price of the pamphlet has not yet been fixed, but orders for copies may be sent to the secretaries of any of the societies.
