Abstract
The insistence by certain modern-day philosophers that we live in a ¿Chicken Little¿ world is overdrawn, but the exaggeration surely contains a degree of truth. Why is this? Those of conservative bent ¿ frequently members of the ¿establishment¿ ¿ are traditionally inclined toward caution where risks are involved. But evidence of the trend is seen in liberal camps as well. It is apparent in the institutionalization of discontent that manifests itself in anti-technology movements.
