Abstract :
Dynamic connection of beams on board a satellite raises the prospect of ¿central offices¿ in the sky that could route signals to their destinations on earth via separate spacecraft antenna beams. On-board switching would eliminate almost all of the terrestrial transmission and switching now needed.
