    The eight papers in this special section is divided into three groups. The first group contains papers dealing with the fusion of control theory and scheduling of real-time systems, and the second group deals with the timing analysis of real-time networks. The third group of papers investigates design, modeling, and timing analysis of embedded real-time systems.
