Abstract :
For original paper see ibid., vol.26, no.3, p.380-90 (1991). In the above-named paper the unit Townsend (Td) is used when referring to gaseous collision parameters. With reference to electrical insulation, it may be argued that, on grounds of its magnitude, the Townsend is an impractical unit.<>
