Spectral lines: Report from the U.K.

The energy crisis of 1974 that put many of Britain´s electronics companies on a three-day week is now largely forgotten. When memories are pressed, what emerges is that, after all was said and done, productivity during the crisis increased, despite curtailments of the work week and the energy available to do the job. In fact, many recall the crisis with fondness as a difficult challenge met with courage and style.
