Abstract
After 40 years of insular operation, the Bewag electric utility is now part of the Western European power supply grid. This article looks back at the power supply situation that developed in the West and East during the post-war period and describes the measures required to establish comparable power supply conditions after unification, the integration into the western European grid system and the control system put in place to optimize operations
