Spectral lines: Registration: A second look

The matter of registration of engineers as provided in the IEEE US Professional Activities policy has given rise to much questioning; and the membership is about equally divided,?? President Ivan Getting reported in the January issue of The Institute. That portion of the membership not wholeheartedly in favor of mandatory registration questions it on two points: (1) Is it necessary for all engineers? (2) Might it become a mechanism for artificially and unduly restricting the practice of engineering?
