Abstract :
Maximum power point trackers (MPPTs) play a vital role in photovoltaic (PV) systems because they increase the efficiency of the solar photovoltaic system by increasing the power output. MPPT algorithms are necessary because PV arrays have a non linear voltage-current characteristic with a unique point where the power produced is maximum. The output power from the solar panel varies with solar irradiance, temperature and load. In this paper, we present different performances of a photovoltaic (PV) water pumping system. A prototype of experimental bench in installed in the laboratory of INSAT Tunisia. This paper presents the design and implementation of perturb& observe (P&O) MPPT algorithm which is responsible for driving the dc-dc boost converter to track maximum power point (MPP). And thereafter feeds a pump through a DC/AC inverter. For the best electrical and mechanical performance, all components of the solar pumping system are carefully matched. Correct sizing of the pump, motor and controlling devices, will allow the system to operate at the highest efficiency to ensure economical water pumping. The obtained experimental results illustrated by curves are represented and analyzed.
