  • Abstract
    Discusses the developments and applications of the Navstar system, particularly in the fields of global navigation and position determination. The Navstar Global Positioning System (GPS) is basically a military system but its potential for civilian use includes maritime, aviation and space applications. The function of the Navstar system and its main parts (satellites, ground stations and users´ facilities such as ground vehicles, ships or aircrafts), is discussed.
