Abstract :
The space-time dependent parameters of a thin wire in the presence of an inhomogeneous medium are calculated directly in the time domain. The mathematical model is based on a newly established time domain integral equation (IE) of the Hallen type. The presence of a lossy half-space is taken into account by means of the Fresnel space-time reflection coefficient appearing in the IE kernel. The resulting integral equation is solved by the space-time finite element procedure newly developed for this purpose. A new integral formula for the electric field has been derived, and the far-field is evaluated by the finite element technique
