Abstract :
Increased loadings in most power systems sometimes lead operation into the infeasible region, particularly following a severe contingency. In this situation, optimal power dispatch may not remain feasible. It is important to develop a technique to both quantify the degree of infeasibility and to provide recommendations to return the system operation into the feasible region. Such an algorithm is developed in the paper based on an optimisation technique and eigenvalue analysis. The proposed method has been tested on three sample systems and can be effectively used for corrective action planning to ensure feasible optimal operation of the system
