Abstract :
A novel speech detection technology called the enhanced level-adaptive segmentation (ELASE) method has been developed, which can distinguish a driver´s commands from audio sounds. Using the ELASE method, a voice-activated car audio system was developed. With the ELASE method, the recognition accuracy improved from 81.5% to 96.3% with the car audio system playing in a moving car, when the peak level was 80 dB. As a result, the driver has no need to look at or touch the unit to operate the car audio system
