Abstract :
It is shown how computer-assisted drafting and engineering programs can be effectively used to generate TV test signals required to evaluate and design television systems and facilities. An off-the-shelf computer design package, together with a properly adapted drafting program, is extensively used to simulate a combination of TV test signal generator, circuit modeling tool, and measurement set. The computer model described enables the video engineer to analyze the effects of a specific TV system on video test signals without the expense of using an actual test generator and measurement set. Examples of linear and nonlinear distortions produced by specific circuit systems on generated TV test signals are given and analyzed in the time and frequency domains
