Abstract :
Motion detectors have many applications in video signal processing. For interlaced scanning, the principles and properties of motion detectors using frame or field delays are discussed and compared with a new algorithm. A motion detector based on vertical high frequency information has been investigated with excellent results. The algorithm is highly insensitive to noise, but very sensitive to motion information especially in the horizontal direction. Advantages are given in many implementation areas
