Spectral lines: You said it

Most of you read Spectrum to learn more about some technical specialty other than your own. That´s the reason most often given in answer to the reader survey that appeared in the September issue. The second most frequently cited reason was to learn more about your own specialty. A few readers pointed out that when they´re reading about someone else´s specialty, Spectrum sometimes treats it a bit more deeply than they require, whereas when they´re reading about their own, they´d often like more detail than we provide. Perhaps, mused one, this means that all articles are just about right.
