Abstract
Alternate-arm multilevel converter (AAMC) is a new type of voltage source converter topology which is composed by full bridge cells cascaded structure and IGBT series type switches. This paper presents an improved modulation method suited for full-bridge cells in this topology. Compared to conventional carrier phase-shifted PWM, this modulation method is more easily to be realized and increase the robustness of system, the computation burden is also reduced. Simulation results demonstrate the simplicity and effectiveness of this new type of modulation strategy.
