Abstract :
Describes the Mexican Light and Power company´s efforts to reconnect Mexico City´s complex electric grid after the September 1985 earthquake. The engineers zeroed in on the most critical repairs, aided by remote operation of substations, and restored power to the company´s 3,200,000 customers in only 72 hours. The author discusses getting accurate damage reports, keeping the work crews supplied, and work crew medical and safety factors.
