Abstract :
Thirteen experts were invited to provide overviews of fundamental areas of electrotechnology for this annual state-of-the-art review. Other inputs for the issue were obtained from some 80 contributors, many of whom are leaders within the IEEE´s technical Societies. Introduced this year is a new section, ¿The specialties.¿ It covers fields more specialized than those discussed elsewhere in the issue: data encryption, communication codes, knowledge support systems design, engineering education, computer-aided design, and electromagnetic compatibility.
