Operational experiences of STATCOMs for wind parks

This paper points out the need for static synchronous compensators (STATCOMs) used in conjunction with wind parks. It describes the principles of operation of a medium voltage STATCOM and presents operational experiences based on installations in Great Britain and in Canada. Furthermore, value adding additional functions of a STATCOM are named.
