Abstract :
An ultra-wideband (1.5-40-GHz) hybrid electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) configuration with a reduced size novel unit cell structure having multiple narrow slits has been designed, fabricated and tested. The hybrid EBG is created by cascading 2-2 low-frequency unit cells with 4-4 high-frequency unit cells. This hybrid EBG structure shows better noise suppression and isolation over -60-dB on average in the ultra-wide stopband (10-40-GHz) and better than 50-dB in the low-frequency band (1.5-10-GHz).
