Title :
Keeping them flying: Airlines sometimes ignore maintenance problems to honor flight schedules ¿ rather than canceling flights to make aircraft worthy by Government standards
Abstract :
Every night, in airport hangars across the United States, mechanics licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration inspect and maintain aircraft in time for flights the following morning. Their tasks range from visual inspections and minor cabin repairs to troubleshooting faulty engines or cockpit instruments written up by pilots and flight engineers.
