Abstract
The on-surface radiation condition method and the WKBJ method for approximating solutions to differential equations are used to derive an analytic formula for the surface currents on a two-dimensional perfectly conducting convex target. The currents are induced by an incident TE-polarized plane wave. The case of a circular cylinder is used to demonstrate the usefulness of the combined methods. It is shown that a two-term expansion yields good results for the surface currents and excellent results for the ensuing bistatic radar cross section
