  • Abstract
A facile approach for the fabrication of hollow carbon/anatase titania (C/TiO2) is demonstrated. The employed protocol involves the coating of silica template beads with layers of carbon. Furthermore, anatase titania is coated on SiO2/C through a sol-gel approach, followed by hydrothermal treatment at 180-C for 12-h, and hollow C/TiO2 is obtained by removal of silica using hydrofluoric acid (HF). The products are characterised by Fourier transform infrared, X-ray powder diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The results show that the hollow carbon is supported on anatase titania with a diameter of 500 nm, and the wall thickness is about 70 nm.
